HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – The Huntington County Humane Society has temporarily suspended its cat intake services, citing an overwhelming surge in feline admissions that has pushed the shelter to its limits.
The shelter, which is currently operating at full capacity, announced the suspension in a recent Facebook post, highlighting the dire situation they face.
“We’re at capacity and simply cannot keep up with the number of intakes,” the Humane Society stated in their post. “Hundreds of kittens are waiting, hoping for a chance at life outside these walls.”
In an urgent plea, the shelter called on the community to step forward as adopters and fosters, stressing the critical need for immediate support.
“There has never been a more critical time to open your home to a loving cat or kitten,” the post continued. “Without your help, we cannot continue saving these precious lives.”
The shelter’s call to action underscores the challenges faced by animal welfare organizations struggling with overcrowding and limited resources, as they work tirelessly to provide care for vulnerable animals.
