New York – A compassionate teacher and animal rescue volunteer saved a stranded tuxedo cat from a perilous situation on a bustling expressway, giving the feline a second chance at life.
Caitlin, a schoolteacher and volunteer with Little Wanderers NYC, was driving home when she spotted the black-and-white cat frantically navigating traffic. Recognizing the danger, she pulled over, signaled for cars to slow, and safely guided the frightened feline into her vehicle.
To her surprise, the cat—later named Hendricks—immediately nestled into her lap as if she had always belonged there.
A Grateful Rescue
Exhausted from life on the streets, Hendricks showed clear signs of hardship, including injured paw pads. Yet once inside the car, she melted into Caitlin’s arms, purring with relief.
“Hendricks went into her car like she belonged there,” Little Wanderers NYC shared in a statement. The cat curled up and dozed off, finally safe after what rescuers suspect was a long period of homelessness.
Road to Recovery
After the rescue, Little Wanderers NYC took Hendricks in, providing veterinary care, spaying, and treatment for her injured paws. Now in foster care, the affectionate tuxedo has embraced her new life—playing with toys, enjoying endless meals, and rolling over for belly rubs.
Her rescuers believe she was once a pet before being abandoned. Now, with a dedicated team supporting her, Hendricks is ready for a loving forever home.
