A large fire broke out at a cattery on Church Road in Newtown, sending dark black smoke billowing into the sky. Firefighters from across Hampshire responded to the scene to control the blaze.
Fortunately, no people or animals were injured, according to the fire service.
A local dairy farmer reported that the fire has caused a disruption to the water supply, leaving them without water for about two hours. The farmer explained that dairy cows require constant access to water for milk production, and the water troughs are now empty.
The barn that caught fire housed the cattery, but it is believed that the cats were safely relocated to another cattery.
To address the water shortage, it is expected that water trucks will be used to restore the supply, as firefighters continue to draw water to fight the fire.
