CULT Food Science has announced the launch of Noochies! Freeze-Dried Cat Snacks, which the company says are North America’s first vegan cat treats. The product is designed to challenge the traditional view that cats must eat meat to stay healthy.
Historically, cats have been considered obligate carnivores, needing nutrients found only in animal tissue. However, recent research suggests that plant-based diets, when properly supplemented, can support feline health.
The new Noochies! treats are rich in protein, fiber, and B vitamins. CULT claims the protein content is comparable to high-quality meat, such as chicken or lamb. The treats are also free from animal ingredients, offering a new option for pet owners interested in sustainable and ethical pet foods.
Joshua Errett, founder of Noochies!, shared his enthusiasm on LinkedIn, calling the product groundbreaking. “With an amino acid profile similar to cuts of chicken or lamb, high levels of protein and dietary fiber, and some great B vitamin content, I don’t believe there is a healthier cat snack in the world today,” he said.
CULT Food Science has also partnered with several companies—Umami Bioworks, JellaTech, and Everything But—to explore more animal-free pet food options. These include cultivated fish treats, animal-free collagen, and lab-grown chicken for pets.
Noochies! Freeze-Dried Cat Snacks are now available online and in select retail stores in California.
