A one-year-old Persian cat named Zuko has been left with devastating injuries after a violent street attack in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester. The young cat was found bleeding, with severe burns across his body and a serious injury to his left eye.
Vets believe the burns were caused by acid. Zuko also had a fresh wound around his neck, leading to suspicions he had been strangled in the brutal assault.
Zuko is currently undergoing multiple lifesaving treatments, and his condition is being closely monitored. It remains uncertain whether his damaged eye can be saved.
His medical bills have already reached £1,200 and are expected to rise as he continues to receive care. For now, Zuko is being looked after by a foster carer but will eventually need a permanent, loving home once he recovers.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help pay for his treatment. So far, it has raised £1,615. The fundraiser appeals for support, saying, “He really does deserve a chance at life with a loving home, and we will fight for him… the healing process is going to be a long road.”
Animal welfare groups and the local community are calling for justice and increased awareness following this shocking case of animal cruelty.
