Los Angeles animal shelters are hosting a heartwarming adoption event this weekend, offering free adoption fees for dogs and cats in a bid to help more furry friends find loving homes. The initiative aims to encourage pet lovers to welcome shelter animals into their families while reducing shelter overcrowding.
All animals available for adoption have already undergone spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchipping, ensuring they are healthy and ready for new homes. Adopters will receive additional perks, including a Petco discount voucher and a VCA Health Start Certificate worth up to $250 for follow-up veterinary care within 14 days of adoption. Dog adopters can also enroll their new companions in free training classes at the Paws for Life K9 Rescue’s Human-Animal Innovation Center in Mission Hills.
While the adoption fees are waived, city residents adopting dogs aged four months or older must still pay a $20 licensing fee.
“This weekend presents a perfect opportunity for anyone considering pet ownership to make a life-changing difference for these animals,” said a shelter spokesperson. “Every adoption not only saves a life but also creates space for another animal in need.”
Interested individuals can visit any of Los Angeles’ animal shelters this weekend to meet their potential new family members and contribute to a compassionate cause.
