LOS ANGELES, CA—A pregnant tabby cat named Goldie, once struggling to survive on the streets, has found safety just days before giving birth—and an unexpected bond with a doting foster dog.
From Stray to Safe Haven
Goldie had been roaming a neighborhood, dodging coyotes and relying on scraps until a local veterinarian, who volunteers with Kitten Rescue Life, intervened.
“She practically jumped into my car—like she knew it was her chance,” the vet told Love Meow. Goldie, estimated to be just six months old, was in the late stages of pregnancy when rescued.
Foster volunteer Asa took her in, providing a quiet space for the expectant mother. “She settled in immediately, purring nonstop—a total love bug,” Asa said.
A Tiny Trio Arrives
Days later, Goldie delivered three healthy kittens: Barbara (tailless like her mom), Bernard (with a full tail), and Angel (a stub-tailed charmer). Despite her youth, Goldie proved to be a devoted mother.
“I barely need to step in—she handles everything,” Asa noted. The kittens flourished, their days alternating between nursing, wobbling walks, and cuddle piles.
Enter Kona, the Canine Nanny
The feline family’s routine took a playful turn when Goldie ventured out of her foster room and met Asa’s dog, Kona—a seasoned foster helper. After a polite nose-boop greeting, Kona was smitten.
“Goldie surprised us—she welcomed Kona’s help,” Asa said. The gentle dog now stands in as a babysitter, entertaining the kittens while Goldie takes breaks. “She seems grateful for the backup,” Asa laughed.
What’s Next
Goldie and her kittens will remain in foster care until they’re ready for adoption. Thanks to her rescuers—and her furry co-parent—this young cat’s second chance has turned into a heartwarming family tale.
