KOCHI — Police have yet to register a case in the death of Malayalam filmmaker and lyricist Nadirshah’s Persian cat, as they await the preliminary post-mortem report.
“No case has been registered so far. We expect to receive the report by Thursday or the day after. Appropriate action will be taken based on its findings,” said a Kochi city police official.
The cat died on Sunday after being taken to Ernakulam Pet Hospital near Renai Medicity in Palarivattom for a grooming session. Nadirshah later alleged that negligence by the hospital staff led to the animal’s death and filed a formal complaint.
However, hospital authorities denied the accusation. They said the cat died of cardiac arrest during sedation.
The post-mortem was initially scheduled for Monday morning but had to be delayed because the cat’s body had frozen in a hospital mortuary freezer. Once the temperature was adjusted, the examination was completed Monday afternoon at the Ernakulam district veterinary hospital.
The cat was later buried at Nadirshah’s under-construction home in Vazhakala.
