Earlier this year, a one-year-old tabby cat named Poseidon—or Poe—was discovered limping down a street with a severe leg injury. Though timid at first, the friendly feline showed no aggression, only a desperate need for help.
Rescue organization Community Cat Club stepped in, providing urgent medical care. Due to the extent of his injury, veterinarians determined that amputation was the best option to ensure Poe’s long-term quality of life.
A Remarkable Recovery
After surgery, Poe initially struggled with his cone but soon perked up when surrounded by people. In foster care, he quickly adapted to life on three legs, defying expectations. Within two weeks, he was playing, climbing, and even racing other foster cats with unstoppable energy.
“He doesn’t let being a tripod slow him down at all,” said Roxanne, Poe’s foster mom. “He climbs cat trees, jumps onto windowsills, and wins over everyone he meets.”
Despite his playful, affectionate nature—complete with constant purring and love for belly rubs—Poe waited weeks for adoption while his feline friends found homes.
A Happy Ending
Finally, a family touched by his story visited and instantly fell in love. Poe, now in his forever home, adores his new feline sister and has fully embraced his life as a spirited three-legged cat.
“He’s the biggest love bug,” his adopters shared. “You’d never know he’s missing a leg—he does everything with joy.”
From a rough start to a triumphant second chance, Poe’s resilience and heart have made him an inspiration.
