Shaky Marie is no ordinary cat. The calico feline lives with a neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which causes her to tremble and move unsteadily. Despite the challenge, she’s captured hearts online—especially during mealtime.
In a recent viral video, Shaky Marie tries to eat from a spoon held by her owner. Due to her condition, she struggles to coordinate her movements and repeatedly misses the spoon. Still, she persists, and eventually, she manages to take a bite. Her adorable efforts and enthusiastic chomping quickly won over viewers. “You can hear every taste bud,” her owner joked in the video caption.
Cerebellar Hypoplasia, according to VCA Animal Hospitals, is a developmental disorder where the cerebellum—the part of the brain responsible for balance and coordination—does not fully develop. The condition often results when a mother cat is infected with the feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) during pregnancy. While there is no cure, it is neither painful nor contagious, and many cats with the condition, like Shaky Marie, can live full, happy lives.
The video’s comment section was full of affection and humor. One viewer quipped, “One bite per sometimes.” Another wrote, “Your cat eats like a typewriter types.” Some playfully scolded the owner, saying, “WELL HOLD THE SPOON STILL FOR HER!”
Though her movements may be shaky, Shaky Marie’s determination and charm remind us that every pet, no matter their challenges, deserves love—and maybe a steadier spoon.
