GREENVILLE, N.C. — A three-month-old kitten named Noodle defied the odds this National Kitten Day, finding a forever home after surviving a harrowing accident and a near-fatal medical emergency.
Noodle was brought to the Greenville Humane Society in May after being struck by a car along with her littermates. While her siblings did not survive, Noodle endured—though the impact left her with injuries so severe that her front leg required amputation. After weeks of recovery, she faced another setback during her spay surgery when her heart suddenly stopped.
“Our team acted immediately and revived her, but the episode caused her to lose vision in both eyes,” the shelter shared in a Facebook post. Veterinarians noted that regaining her sight was “very unlikely,” leaving the once-traumatized kitten in need of a patient, nurturing home.
Despite her challenges, Noodle remained affectionate and playful, prompting the shelter to seek an adopter with another cat to help her adapt. “She’s a sweet, friendly kitten who just needs a stable environment to grow into a confident cat,” the post read.
The plea worked swiftly. Within hours, a family stepped forward, finalizing adoption paperwork by Monday afternoon. The shelter later confirmed Noodle would have two feline siblings to guide her in her new life.
