ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. — A cat named Rhett is drawing attention and compassion after surviving a traumatic injury and receiving life-saving care from the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA.
Rhett, originally from Scottsville, was brought to the shelter after being shot in the face. Despite the serious injury, he arrived at the shelter purring and friendly.
“He’s had two surgeries and a lot of medical treatment since coming into our care,” said Sierra Stephens, marketing and communications manager for the SPCA. “He’s also on a special diet and continues to receive additional treatment.”
Rhett’s loving personality has won over the staff. “He’s a joy to be around,” Stephens said. “He loves being held, getting head scratches, and everyone here adores him.”
To help with ongoing expenses, the SPCA has launched Rhett’s Healing Fund, allowing the community to support his recovery.
“This just shows how much these animals deserve love and care,” Stephens said. “Giving them a home and affection can change their lives.”
