LOS ANGELES, California — A three-year-old cat named Sandwich is still waiting for someone to take her home, despite being a longtime resident at the Crumbs & Whiskers Cat Cafe in Los Angeles.
While kittens around her are quickly adopted, Sandwich continues to be passed over. Staff at the cafe say it’s heartbreaking to watch. In a recent video, they shared how Sandwich quietly sits by as visitors shower attention on younger cats.
“She may not be a baby, but she’s everything you could want in a cat—gentle, playful, and full of heart,” the cafe wrote in a caption. “She’s not just a loaf… she’s a whole Sandwich.”
Sandwich is described as calm, loyal, and affectionate — qualities that often make older cats ideal companions. Yet many adopters focus on kittens, leaving loving adult cats like Sandwich behind.
The cafe’s video quickly drew attention online, with many commenters expressing support and disbelief that she hasn’t been adopted.
“I would snuggle a 3-year-old cat over a kitten any day,” one user wrote. Another added, “Stop. She is perfect. She looks so soft.”
Crumbs & Whiskers hopes the growing online attention will help Sandwich finally find the forever home she deserves.
