A woman who thought she was adopting a low-maintenance, independent cat was in for a surprise—one that has since delighted millions online.
Morgan Thomas, 29, adopted a 7-year-old cat named Twilight from a shelter in Indiana in 2020. Twilight’s bio described her as “independent,” which suited Thomas, who was just beginning her career as a therapist and was looking for a calm, low-key companion.
However, Twilight turned out to be anything but distant.
“When I visited the shelter, she was sick and in the back,” said Thomas, who now lives in Denver, Colorado. “I intuitively felt a pull toward her. I asked the universe for a sign, and I saw the angel number 333 on her cage. That’s always been a sign for me—I knew she was the one.”
Though Twilight was shy at first and hid under the bed for several days, she soon revealed her true personality. “Within a few days, I realized she is a total lover girl,” said Thomas. “She would lie on me 24/7 if she could. She even gets grumpy when I have to wake her up to work with a client.”
Now 12 years old, Twilight remains as affectionate as ever. She shares her home with a younger feline sibling, Aura Moon, but Thomas jokes that “everyone knows Twilight is the real baby.”
Thomas shared a video on TikTok (@morganonealll_) showing Twilight lying across her chest, with a caption that joked, “This is her every time I lay down.” The clip quickly went viral, earning more than 1.5 million views and over 374,000 likes.
Commenters were quick to embrace Twilight’s clingy charm. One user wrote, “She was just being strong until she found someone to trust… soft girl era.” Another quipped, “Who doesn’t lie on their resume?”
Thomas said the experience has made her feel lucky. “It was a pleasant surprise that she actually loved attention—because same,” she said. “She’s helped me through some really tough times, and I’m eternally grateful for her.”
Despite her misleading bio, Twilight has become a source of comfort and love in Thomas’ life—and a social media star in her own right.
