Mariana Koval, a professional pianist accustomed to performing in grand concert halls, has discovered her most enthusiastic fanbase isn’t in the audience—it’s at home. Among her 10 cats, one particularly devoted feline, Zlatko, refuses to let her practice solo, insisting on joining her at the piano bench every day.
A Furry Duet Partner
As soon as Koval or her pianist husband, Dimcho Velichkov, sits down to play, Zlatko rushes over to participate. Sometimes, the cat perches on their laps, resting his paws on the keys as their fingers navigate around him. Other times, he sprawls across the piano, lulled to sleep by the vibrations of the music.
“[It’s] another day in the office,” Koval joked in an Instagram post featuring Zlatko mid-performance.
A Cat with Musical Taste
While some pets might flee from the sound of a vigorously played piano, Zlatko and a few of his feline siblings—Anya, Bambi, and Sasha—can’t get enough. Over time, Zlatko has even developed a preference for certain composers.
“Zlatko loves Chopin,” Koval revealed in another post.
A Daily Ritual
Zlatko’s love for music is unwavering—he never misses a session, whether his parents are practicing or performing. Though it’s unclear whether he’s more drawn to the melodies or the quality time with his humans, Koval has a theory.
“[He loves] both,” she wrote in an Instagram comment.
For now, Zlatko remains Koval’s most loyal—and furry—collaborator, proving that the best concerts sometimes happen at home.
