SOUTH JERSEY — A 10-year-old tuxedo cat named Valentine, affectionately called Vali, has captured attention at the Community Cat Club rescue with her charming habit of standing on her hind legs and waving at passersby.
A Sweet Senior Seeking Love
Vali was surrendered earlier this year when her elderly owner could no longer care for her. Despite her age, the friendly feline quickly adapted to foster care, winning over staff with her affectionate nature.
“She’s the ultimate lap cat—always purring, chirping, and following people around for cuddles,” said Sara Sharp, founder of Community Cat Club, in an interview with Love Meow.
After a dental procedure left her with an adorable lip curl, Vali’s signature “smile” only added to her charm. Yet, despite her sweet demeanor, the senior cat spent six months in foster care without adoption interest.
A Clever Bid for Attention
To boost her chances, rescuers moved Vali to an adoption center, where she wasted no time making her presence known. The clever cat stood on her hind legs, pawing at the glass enclosure to greet visitors.
“Vali’s not shy—she demands attention in the cutest way,” said Sharp. “She’d tap the glass, wave, and even head-bump anyone who stopped by.”
Her persistence paid off. After months of waiting, Vali has finally found her forever home.
Happy Ending for a Hopeful Cat
Her new family adores her loud purrs and cuddly personality. “She’s the coolest cat—just loves warmth, naps, and endless pets,” Sharp shared.
For Vali, patience and a little paw-waving led to the perfect match.
