CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local tattoo and piercing studio is putting ink to good use by supporting a cause close to the heart—and the paws—of the community. Forever Art Tattoo has teamed up with The Cattery Cat Shelter to raise funds through their annual “Tats for Cats” event.
Customers can choose from a variety of cat-themed tattoos, including silhouettes, fairy cats, and even space cats. Each design starts at $50, with half of the proceeds going directly to the shelter. By 3 p.m. on Friday, the shop had already completed 13 tattoos and had another 13 customers waiting in line.
Many participants were eager to support the cause while adding to their personal ink collections. One customer came in for his fifth tattoo as a tribute to his three cats—Basil, Inky, and Pumpkin. For 20-year-old Jayden, it was her first tattoo. She chose a design to remember a beloved pet and came with her best friend Mia to show support.
“There was no way we were gonna miss this. We had to be here,” Jayden said.
Josie Solis, volunteer coordinator for The Cattery, said this is the third time the shelter has partnered with Forever Art for the event. This year marks the first return of the fundraiser since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re so thankful for the artists doing this for us and for all our community sponsors,” Solis said. “Your help really helps us care for our cats. Thank you very much.”
Both Forever Art and The Cattery plan to continue their collaboration in future events.
