New York, NY—A frail, blind stray kitten named Jade has made a miraculous recovery after being rescued by the nonprofit organization PuppyKittyNYCity. Found wandering outdoors with a severe upper respiratory infection, the tuxedo kitten was underweight, weak, and unable to see—until dedicated caregivers stepped in to save her.
A Desperate Rescue
When volunteers discovered Jade, she was in critical condition. “She was so sick and wouldn’t have survived much longer without intervention,” PuppyKittyNYCity shared. A foster volunteer immediately took her in, providing emergency treatment and warmth.
“She was freezing, so I kept her inside my vest to regulate her body heat,” Jade’s foster mom recalled. The tiny kitten clung to her rescuer, seeking comfort on her lap or curled around her neck.
The Road to Recovery
Jade’s respiratory infection had caused severe eye inflammation, leaving her nearly blind. But with antibiotics, nourishment, and round-the-clock care, she began to improve. “Each day, she opened her eyes a little more,” her foster family said.
Soon, Jade’s vision cleared completely. Energized and curious, she explored her surroundings—pouncing on toys, scaling cat trees, and even proudly presenting her favorite plush to her caregivers.
A Polydactyl Playmaker
Jade, a polydactyl cat with extra toes, used her enhanced grip to conquer every corner of her foster home. She wrestled toys, chased her tail, and even “helped” with chores by sitting on laundry or batting at computer cursors.
But her biggest breakthrough came when she bonded with a resident tabby cat, who nurtured her like a mother. The pair now snuggle together, with Jade falling asleep to his comforting purrs.
A Bright Future Ahead
From a fragile, sightless stray to a lively, affectionate companion, Jade’s transformation has been extraordinary. “She’s curious, loving, and always by your side,” her foster mom said. Whether playing soccer with toy mice or greeting her humans at the door, Jade has embraced her second chance at life—with eyes wide open.
