GREENPOINT, NY — When six-week-old Puppet arrived at Greenpoint Cats with his mother, Marionette, and brother, Moppet, he was barely the size of a two-week-old kitten. Severely undersized due to stunted growth, the fragile tabby faced an uphill battle—but his fiery spirit and thunderous meows hinted at the fighter within.
A Rocky Start
Despite his frail body, Puppet had “the vocal pipes of an opera singer and the heart of a warrior,” the rescue shared. Rushed to an animal hospital for intensive care, he graduated from syringe feedings to eating independently—a small but critical victory. Though his condition’s cause remained unknown, Puppet thrived in an incubator, flanked by plush companions and dedicated staff.
By the one-month mark, he’d hit a milestone: one pound. “He played like a tiger but melted into a puddle when held,” the team noted. Meanwhile, his mother and brother, Marionette and Moppet—an “inseparable, playful duo”—were adopted together, leaving Puppet in foster care with a veterinarian.
Enter Pop: The Perfect Match
As Puppet grew stronger, his boundless energy demanded a partner in crime. Enter Pop, a cream-colored kitten also in need of companionship. The pair bonded instantly, wrestling, napping tangled together, and even hijacking office chairs. “They’re not brothers, but they adore each other,” the rescue said.
Happily Ever After
Now thriving in their forever home, Puppet and Pop remain inseparable. Photos show the once-tiny runt, now a confident cat, side by side with his best friend. “I teared up seeing him all grown up,” admitted a Greenpoint Cats volunteer.
Puppet’s journey—from a fragile kitten to a vivacious cat—proves that even the smallest beginnings can lead to the grandest adventures.
