A pair of newly adopted cat sisters has captured hearts on social media with a touching video from their first week together.
The clip, posted Saturday on TikTok by user @lillylucysisters, shows the two tabby cats, Lilly and Lucy, curled up in their owner’s arms. They purr happily as they nap side by side.
The video’s text reads, “Imagine adopting two rescue sister cats… and this happens in the very first week. Can you imagine what my heart feels like?” The caption adds, “My heart was exploding.”
Adopting two cats from the same litter is a big decision. They often provide each other with company and help prevent loneliness, but much depends on their personalities. According to Catster, kittens from about three to four weeks old usually get along well until social maturity between two and five years, when their relationships may change.
Sister cats may form close bonds, cuddling and grooming each other, or they may simply tolerate one another. Brother cats tend to compete for dominance. Some pairs become inseparable, while others face constant conflicts.
The benefits of adopting littermates include companionship, play, warmth, and grooming. To reduce tension, owners should provide separate litter boxes and feeding areas. Pheromone products can also help create a calm environment.
The video quickly went viral, gathering over 5.9 million views and 1.6 million likes.
Comments reflected the emotional response. User XENA wrote, “Can you imagine what my heart feels like watching this with a cat who hates physical touch?! JEALOUS.” Average.rosie joked, “This is really dangerous because your heart may melt and/or stop beating properly from how sweet they are. Be careful!!” Another user, Rachcondi, shared, “This is all I want from my non-affectionate cat, but she looks at me like she’s plotting my death.”
