A paraplegic kitten named Loco has captured hearts online after a video showed him learning to land on his feet despite his disability.
The 2-month-old kitten, who cannot use his hind legs, was filmed bravely jumping off a cat tree using only his front legs while dragging his back legs behind him. The video was shared in June on TikTok by user @purrfectlybelle6.
Loco’s family watched in awe as he made the leap, refusing to let his condition hold him back.
Currently, Loco is also dealing with an eye infection, which he is treating with antibiotics and warm compresses.
According to Pet MD, paralysis in cats can result from various causes. It happens when signals from the brain to certain body parts are blocked. Possible reasons include cancer, exposure to harmful chemicals like pesticides or antifreeze, infections, spinal injuries, or toxins.
Symptoms of paralysis vary but often include loss of movement, difficulty walking, trouble eating or drinking, and dragging limbs while moving.
Recovery depends on the cause and severity. Some cats with temporary paralysis can fully recover with treatment, while others with chronic conditions or severe spinal damage may face ongoing challenges, according to Mooresville Animal Hospital.
Loco’s video quickly went viral on TikTok, amassing over 5.4 million views and 644,500 likes.
