Carroll County, Tennessee – When a litter of kittens arrived at the Carroll County Humane Society needing foster care, one stood out—not just for being the runt, but for her unforgettable grumpy expression.
The smallest of the bunch, a kitten named Widget, was the only one in her litter born with dwarfism. While her siblings grew quickly, Widget remained petite, her tiny frame matched by an adorably sourpuss face.
“I instantly fell in love with her before I even met her,” said Michelle Roberts, the foster volunteer who took in Widget and her siblings. “Once I saw her in person, I was completely smitten.”
A Tiny Kitten with Big Attitude
From the start, Widget made her presence known. While her littermates thrived, she progressed at her own pace—her signature frown growing more pronounced as her larger-than-life personality emerged.
Despite her perpetually unimpressed expression, Widget adored snuggling with Michelle (even if her face suggested otherwise) and demanded royal treatment. “She had me wrapped around her little paw from day one,” Michelle told Love Meow.
From Foster Fail to Forever Queen
Within weeks, Widget’s siblings were adopted, but Michelle couldn’t part with the feisty dwarf kitten. “They allowed me to be first in line to adopt her—and I absolutely did,” she said.
Now ruling Michelle’s home, Widget weighs just 6.4 pounds but packs a punch of sass. She wrestles with her feline siblings, attacks catnip pillows, and sprints up and down stairs “with surprising volume for such a tiny cat,” Michelle laughed.
Her hobbies include:
Unrolling toilet paper like a pro.
Napping in sunbeams (followed by stretches and more napping).
Expressing 50 different emotions—all through her iconic frown.
“She lets you know exactly how she feels about everything,” Michelle said. “She may be small, but she runs this house.”
Widget’s story proves that sometimes, the tiniest creatures leave the biggest paw prints on our hearts—grumpy face and all.
