North Carolina—A palm-sized calico kitten named Cinco—affectionately called “Cici”—arrived at Murphy’s Law Animal Rescue on Cinco de Mayo, frail but fiercely vocal. The sole survivor of her litter still needing bottle feedings, she demanded love (and meals) with full-throated mews—and soon, a loyal companion.
A Rocky Start
Rescued from a North Carolina shelter, Cici lagged behind her siblings in growth. “She was the only one requiring round-the-clock bottle care,” said Sarah Kelly, founder of Murphy’s Law Animal Rescue. “But she made it clear—she was ready to thrive.”
At first, Cici’s days revolved around naps on soft blankets and enthusiastic kneading post-meals. Her tiny squeaks of contentment replaced her earlier cries, but her chatterbox personality never faded. “She’d ‘tell stories’ all day,” laughed Kelly.
Enter Gaia: The Perfect Match
When medically cleared, Cici met other foster kittens—including Gaia, a confident tuxedo kitten. The pair bonded instantly. While others zoomed wildly, Cici and Gaia snuggled or played at their own genteel pace. “She adored Gaia. They were inseparable,” Kelly noted.
A Package Deal
As adoption day neared, Cici made one thing clear: she and Gaia came as a pair. Their wish was granted when a couple adopted them together. Renamed “Cookie,” the former stray now shares a forever home with her best friend.
“These two embody resilience and love,” said Kelly. “Their future is as bright as their purrs.”
