Las Vegas, NV – A tiny kitten named Michael, abandoned by his feral mother in an Arizona home under renovation, has defied the odds under the care of a dedicated Las Vegas rescue group.
A Desperate Rescue
Earlier this year, Danielle Chavez, founder of With Grace Rescue, received a plea for help regarding a litter of newborn kittens found in an Arizona house. A feral cat had sneaked into the home through the walls to give birth but never returned, leaving the helpless kittens behind.
“A staff member from our spay and neuter clinic reached out, knowing we could assist with neonatal rescues,” Chavez told Love Meow. The homeowner transported the kittens to Las Vegas, where With Grace had an incubator ready.
A Fighter’s Spirit
Weighing just 60 grams at intake, the kittens faced an uphill battle. Despite round-the-clock care, two succumbed to their fragile state. Michael, however, clung to life, eagerly taking to bottle feedings and growing stronger each day.
“After days of constant care, I could see his determination—he was going to make it,” Chavez said. Meanwhile, Arizona-based Feral Cat Warriors stepped in to trap, neuter, and return the feral colony, ensuring no more kittens would be left vulnerable.
Around-the-Clock Care
Chavez and her husband took shifts feeding Michael, ensuring he never missed a meal. “I handled late-night feedings; Foster Dad took mornings. It was a team effort,” she shared. As Michael grew, he graduated to a playpen, where his playful personality emerged.
Now seven weeks old, the spirited tabby follows his foster parents everywhere, demanding cuddles and perfecting his feline skills—including the “crab-walk” and “wiggle-butt ambush.”
A Bright Future Ahead
Michael adores snuggling into his foster dad’s beard and kneading happily while purring. He’s also learning cat etiquette from resident felines. “He’s gaining confidence daily,” Chavez said. “Soon, he’ll be outpacing the other cats.”
Set for adoption in the coming weeks, Michael’s resilience and affectionate nature promise him a loving future. For updates, follow With Grace Rescue on social media.
