Yolo County, CA — When foster volunteer Angela took in two fragile, three-week-old white kittens named Button and Truffle, she knew the road to recovery would be tough. Found alone without their mother, the twins required round-the-clock bottle feeding and medical care. But their story took a sweeter turn when a lonely ginger tabby named Abraxos joined their crew—creating an unlikely, heartwarming family.
A Rocky Beginning
The twins struggled with stomach issues in their first days under Angela’s care. Button even needed tube feeding after losing his appetite. Despite their discomfort, the pair never lost their spirit. “They still purred and meowed whenever they saw people,” Angela told Love Meow. After a week of sleepless nights, the kittens rebounded, mastering litter-box skills and finding solace in each other’s cuddles.
Once weaned, the duo became Angela’s playful shadows, even braving their first stair-climbing adventure together—one pausing to encourage the other.
Enter Abraxos
Meanwhile, Yolo SPCA rescued Abraxos, a ginger tabby orphaned at just three days old. Hand-reared by humans, he craved companionship. “He needed feline friends to teach him cat manners,” Angela explained. She introduced him to Button and Truffle, hoping for a match.
The first meeting was tense—hisses, puffed tails—but by morning, the trio woke up wrestling like lifelong pals. Abraxos, once hesitant, began grooming the twins and zooming around with Button, while petite Truffle cheered from the sidelines.
A Perfect Match
Button became Abraxos’s mentor, matching his playful energy. The trio’s bond solidified into nap-time cuddle piles, often squeezed into impossibly small boxes. “It’s heartwarming to see them as best friends,” Angela said.
Once orphaned and vulnerable, the three now thrive together. The twins gained a brother; Abraxos, a family. And for Angela, the sleepless nights paid off in purrs and intertwined tails—proof that second chances can be this sweet.
