Lamby, a one-year-old tuxedo cat with a unique love for stuffed lamb toys, is still waiting for her forever home at Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) in Texas.
Known affectionately as the “Lambinator,” Lamby has captured the hearts of shelter staff and social media followers with her playful spirit and growing collection of plush lambs.
Lamby arrived at APA! in August 2023 from a local rescue with a tail injury. This injury caused her to walk with an unusual gait and made her incontinent. Despite this, the shelter reports that Lamby’s energy is contagious. She eagerly greets visitors and loves meeting new people.
The young cat enjoys running, climbing, and even splashing in water. She’s comfortable curling up in laps or perched on shoulders. She gets along well with children, adults, big dogs, and other cats. The shelter says she purrs loudly every time someone picks her up.
Lamby requires daily bladder care, which involves a simple expression technique that anyone can learn, and she wears washable diapers. These needs don’t slow her down at all.
“It’s heartbreaking to think she could be overlooked because of her special care needs,” APA! said. “Lamby has so much love to give and a bright, happy personality. She just needs the right person to share it with.”
APA! says her ideal home would be patient and willing to learn her care routine. Lamby would thrive in a calm environment with kids and possibly other pets.
Since the shelter shared Lamby’s story on Instagram, it has drawn thousands of comments from people eager to send love or offer her a home. One user said, “If I lived closer, I would bring her home immediately.” Another added, “My cat is obsessed with lamb toys too! I hope Lamby finds a home soon.”
Lamby’s playful charm and loving nature show that a little extra care can lead to a lot of happiness.
