LOS ANGELES — A timid kitten named Apple has made a remarkable transformation just one day after being rescued from a city shelter and placed in a loving foster home.
The torbie kitten arrived at Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles as a fragile, underweight stray with no mother or siblings. Shelter life had taken a toll—she was stressed, barely eating, and covered in flea dirt.
“She wasn’t thriving in her kennel. The noise and uncertainty made it hard for her,” foster mom Frankie told Love Meow.
But everything changed after Apple was placed in a quiet, comfortable home. Wrapped in a soft blanket, she immediately relaxed in Frankie’s arms, her tiny purrs signaling relief. Within 24 hours, she was eating eagerly, playing with toys, and exploring her new space with newfound energy.
“She realized she was safe—suddenly, she had this burst of hyperactivity,” Frankie said. “She loves running around, chasing toys, and even claimed my bed as her throne.”
The once-scrawny kitten, who had survived alone on the streets, now enjoys regular meals and a warm bed. Her playful antics—zooming across rooms and pouncing on blankets—show just how far she’s come.
Apple will soon be ready for adoption, but for now, she’s perfecting her feline skills in foster care. “She’s a completely different cat,” Frankie said. “It’s amazing what love and security can do.”
