Every morning, Crush the orange tabby cat has one mission: to greet his human sister, Cora, with a loving lick to her unruly blonde hair.
Heather Mees, Crush’s owner and Cora’s mother, captured their adorable routine in an Instagram video posted on February 16. The clip shows Crush patiently waiting outside Cora’s closed door, pawing and meowing until someone lets him in. As soon as the door opens, the eager feline rushes to a side table next to Cora’s crib—where the baby stands, waiting—and begins grooming her hair.
“Every morning, our cat, Crush, waits eagerly for Cora, his dear sissy, to wake up,” Mees told Storyful. “At the slightest sound or movement behind her door, he begins to meow, pacing the hallway with anticipation, until someone opens the door, allowing him to burst in and greet her with loving head licks.”
In the video, Cora appears delighted by the affectionate ritual, smiling as Crush tends to her bedhead. Mees can be heard cheerfully saying, “Good morning!” as the cat continues his tongue bath.
“He loves his sissy so much,” Mees captioned the heartwarming post.
A Tale of Another Remarkable Orange Cat
Crush isn’t the only orange tabby making headlines for his devotion. Sunny-Loo, a cat from Washington, stunned her family after disappearing during their move to Colorado. Despite an extensive search, the family feared they had lost her—until three weeks later, when they discovered her trapped inside a couch that had just been delivered by movers.
Miraculously, Sunny-Loo survived the ordeal without food or water.
“Medically, I don’t have an answer for how this cat survived. It’s really remarkable,” said Dr. Erin Dixon, Sunny-Loo’s veterinarian. “She is a miracle cat.”
