A four-year-old black-and-white cat has amazed staff at a Warrington animal center after vets discovered she has two noses.
The cat, now named Nanny McPhee, was taken to Cats Protection’s Warrington Adoption Centre along with two other cats after their owner could no longer care for them due to poor health and financial struggles.
At first, staff believed the cat simply had a large nose. But during a routine check-up, the center’s vet found that Nanny McPhee actually has two distinct noses—a rare congenital condition.
“This is a real rarity and, thankfully, it isn’t causing her any problems at all,” said Fiona Brockbank, Cats Protection’s Senior Field Veterinary Officer. “A cat with two noses is a first for us in the Field Vet team.”
She added that while other facial abnormalities like cleft lips or palates are more common, Nanny McPhee’s case is highly unusual. The cat will be neutered before rehoming, eliminating concerns about passing on inherited traits.
Despite her unique appearance, Nanny McPhee is in good health and has quickly become a favorite at the center.
“We have all fallen in love with our one-of-a-kind Nanny McPhee,” said Lindsay Kerr, Manager of the Warrington centre. “She has proven to be a gentle lady who adores a fuss and a cuddle. We’re hopeful her new-found fame will help her find a loving forever home.”
Staff are now inviting cat lovers to come forward and consider giving this special feline a second chance at life in a caring home.
