When Liz adopted the black cat Ari from Best Friends – New York animal Rescue organization in 2018, this shy little fellow didn’t dare to show her true self. But now, her “wild side” has completely erupted – especially her love-hate relationship with almonds, which has become the funniest part of daily life in the family.
At first, Ari always hid in the “shell” until she gradually trusted her new home. Soon, the “crazy gaze” in the corridor, the “ninja kick” on the wall, and the “crab walk” with fratted hair became her signature moves. Liz explained that these seemingly defensive postures are actually Ari’s unique way of expressing trust.
Ari’s interest in toys was short-lived until he met an almond. From then on, she was addicted to stuffing hundreds of almonds into corners and throwing them into trays, completing one “murder ritual” after another. “She’ll declare them ‘dead’ and then move on to the next one, “Liz laughed. This tiny nut has become a perfect ball-catching toy and also bears witness to Ari’s quirky yet adorable soul.
Although Ari’s way of thinking is unique, Liz said she couldn’t imagine life without this black cat: “She is far beyond all my imagination of a cat.” Nowadays, Ari’s Instagram account records this “almond murder case” and many more nonsensical moments, proving that sometimes the wildest love is hidden in a “murdered” nut.
