A 27-year-old woman is standing her ground after banning her roommate’s destructive cat from her bedroom—only to face guilt-tripping over the feline’s supposed remorse.
The woman, who shared her story on Reddit’s “Am I the A——?” forum, explained that her roommate Lily, 26, owns a cat named Muffin. Despite its innocent name, the cat has a habit of sneaking into her room and wreaking havoc.
Chaos and a Broken Pact
The final straw came when Muffin destroyed a nearly completed puzzle, scattering and even chewing pieces—one of which remains missing. Frustrated, the woman confronted Lily, who agreed to keep Muffin out but then took an unusual step: claiming the cat wanted to apologize.
“I laughed it off, thinking she was joking,” the woman wrote. But the next day, she found a note on her desk—written in Lily’s handwriting—reading, “I’m sowwy – Muffin,” accompanied by a cat treat.
Roommate Insists on “Second Chance”
Though amused, the woman held firm. Lily, however, escalated the situation, adopting a passive-aggressive tone by insisting Muffin was “trying to make things right” and accusing her of “holding a grudge against a cat.” She even proposed supervised visits so Muffin could “earn back trust.”
When the woman refused, Lily called her “heartless” for rejecting the cat’s “apology.”
