Martha Stewart has added two new members to her beloved animal family. The 81-year-old lifestyle icon announced on Instagram Tuesday that she adopted a pair of Bengal kittens, introducing them to her sprawling farm.
One of the cats, a 12-week-old named Kipling, was described by Stewart as “curious and mischievous.” In a follow-up post, she shared a carousel of photos showing the wide-eyed felines exploring their new surroundings.
“The Bengals are acclimating to farm life, starting with the laundry room and basement wardrobe,” Stewart wrote. “We tried the porch, but they’re too fast and adventurous—they’d escape and get into trouble with the dogs!”
A Challenging Year for Stewart’s Pets
The joyful arrival of the kittens follows a difficult year for Stewart’s menagerie. In July, she mourned the loss of six peacocks after a coyote attack. Sharing a throwback video of one of the birds, she captioned the post: “RIP beautiful BlueBoy. The coyotes came in broad daylight and devoured him and five others.” She also sought advice on deterring the predators, quipping, “Any solutions for getting rid of six large, aggressive coyotes with expensive poultry tastes?”
Tragedy struck again in April when four of her dogs accidentally killed her cat, Princess Peony. Stewart shared a somber Instagram post of her team preparing a grave, writing, “Burying the beautiful and unusual Princess Peony… I will miss her very badly.”
A Lifelong Love for Animals
Stewart, a self-proclaimed animal lover, once estimated her farm is home to over 20 cats, 25 dogs, and a variety of birds, horses, and livestock. Earlier this month, she showcased her dedication by preparing homemade dog food—a nutrient-rich mix of quinoa, vegetables, and meats—for her pampered pups.
“Forty quarts of delicious homemade dog food for my lovelies!” she wrote, noting her dogs thrive on the diet.
As her newest feline companions settle in, Stewart’s farm continues to be a testament to her passion for animals—through both joyful additions and heartbreaking losses.
