A heartwarming Instagram video has captured the instant bond between an orange rescue kitten and his new owner.
Shared in early May by user @cheeto_the_chunk, the clip shows the kitten hugging and kissing his new mom just minutes after arriving at her home. This quick connection surprised even the rescuer, who had warned it might take longer for the kitten to adjust.
The video’s caption reads, “The rescuer: ‘give him some time to adjust to you.’ [Two] minutes later when we go home,” highlighting the kitten’s immediate affection.
Kittens bring joy with their fluffy faces and endless energy but also need love and care to settle in well. Preparing your home beforehand makes the transition easier for them.
It is important to provide plenty of space for play, along with resting spots and hiding places to keep them mentally stimulated. Essential supplies include toys, a scratching post, litter tray, food and water bowls, and climbing areas.
Safety is key—cat-proof your home by removing hazards, and place the litter tray in a quiet but accessible spot. Bringing a blanket from the kitten’s first home can offer extra comfort during the adjustment period.
New owners should also arrange a visit to the vet and get pet insurance early, as kittens will need vaccinations and treatment for fleas and worms.
While most cats take about a week to settle in, the time varies based on each cat’s personality.
The video has since gone viral, with over 1.1 million views and 140,000 likes. Comments like “That’s it, you’re his mom!!!!” and “NO DNA TEST NEEDED” show how touched viewers were. Another user shared their own experience of adopting an older cat and quickly forming a strong bond.
