A cat owner was left stunned after discovering two kittens inside her home—despite only having two neutered male cats.
Amy, known on TikTok as @amys_vlog777, shared the baffling incident in a video posted on May 5. The clip quickly went viral, gaining over 12.2 million views, 2 million likes, and more than 22,000 comments.
In the video, Amy finds a black kitten exploring her home while an orange one stays huddled in a corner. Meanwhile, her two male cats look equally confused, staring at her with wide eyes and meowing as if to say they had nothing to do with the kittens’ arrival.
“I was seriously wondering if cats multiply by mitosis,” Amy joked in the post, referencing the way single cells divide.
Viewers flooded the comment section with humorous theories.
“They used a surrogate,” one person joked.
“It’s mitosis—when too many hairballs get stuck together, a kitten is formed,” said another.
A third viewer wrote, “The cat distribution system gave them kittens,” while another quipped, “Dads that stepped up. Congrats on your growing family!”
But the mystery didn’t last long.In a follow-up video, Amy explained that she had spoken with a neighbor who owned an unspayed female cat. The neighbor told her the cat had recently given birth to a litter, and the kittens were about four weeks old.
Amy realized the kittens had wandered into her house on their own. “Apparently, they were walking over there themselves. I actually watched them walk over one time,” she said. She wasn’t sure if they were following her cats or their mother.
Eventually, Amy returned the kittens to her neighbor. However, they made a few more visits before settling down. In her final update, Amy shared that all the kittens and their mother had been placed in new homes. What started as a mystery ended with a heartwarming solution—and a lot of laughs online.
