Liza, a cat that was returned to the shelter twice, has now transformed into a therapy cat that helps sick children and adults. Liza’s mother speculated that she might have originally come from a family of animal hoarders. After several twists and turns, she met her current family in a pet store. Although there was already a sick cat at home at that time, Liza’s act of reaching out her PAWS to seek care made it impossible for her mother to refuse.
Liza has a friendly personality and extremely strong social skills. Once she puts on her work headscarf, she immediately enters “professional mode”, calm and gentle. She helps rehabilitating children in the children’s hospital to exercise their motor skills and can even bring smiles to children who are slow to react to the things around them. Besides, she also offers comfort to adults. She likes to curl up on people’s legs and enjoy snacks with a specially made spoon, making it convenient for those with limited mobility to participate in the interaction.
Liza’s journey of treating cats began at a Halloween pet costume competition. A veterinary technician noticed that she remained calm in a noisy environment and suggested that she undergo training. After six months of efforts, Liza successfully “got a certificate to work”. Nowadays, she and her introverted mother step out of their comfort zones together, lighting up others’ lives with love and companionship. Liza’s story proves that rescue animals that were once neglected can also create extraordinary value.
