A frail, flea-ridden kitten found abandoned behind a tire at a job site has made a miraculous recovery, blossoming into a vibrant, playful cat under the care of a dedicated rescuer.
A Fight for Survival
Over a month ago, workers discovered the emaciated kitten—later named Furby—covered in fleas and missing patches of fur due to severe malnutrition. They quickly contacted Deej, co-founder of Inked Kittens Club, a rescue organization.
“As soon as she arrived, it was clear she was very sick,” Deej told Love Meow. At just seven weeks old, Furby faced panleukopenia, a deadly feline virus with only a 10% survival rate for kittens her age.
Despite the odds, Furby clung to life, purring and kneading (“making biscuits”) as if grateful for the safety and care.
The Road to Recovery
With round-the-clock fluids, syringe feedings, and medication, Furby slowly regained strength. After a week, she began eating on her own—a turning point. “That’s when I knew she’d pull through,” Deej said.
Initially too weak to leave her bed, Furby eventually emerged from her shell, bonding deeply with her rescuer. “The moment she decided to trust me, we became inseparable,” Deej recalled.
A Fluffy (and Feisty) New Beginning
As Furby’s health improved, her missing fur grew back, revealing a mischievous personality. “She’s either making a grumpy face or sticking her tongue out—no in-between,” Deej laughed.
Now three months old, Furby has endless energy, demanding pets by pawing at Deej’s hand and chasing toys. She’s also befriended other rescue cats, learning to play gently while still ruling the house.
A Remarkable Glow-Up
From a scraggly “gremlin” to a fluffy, energetic cat, Furby’s transformation stunned even her rescuer. “Her bald spots filled in, her ear tufts grew, and now she’s gorgeous,” Deej said. “She’s weird, wonderful, and absolutely perfect.”
