A kitten was rescued from a car’s engine compartment after the driver stopped at a Kentucky fire station on Wednesday, having survived a journey trapped under the hood from Nashville to Hopkinsville.
The Hopkinsville Fire Department (HFD) said a driver from Nashville pulled into Station 1 and alerted firefighters to a possible animal in the engine bay. Working with Hopkinsville police, HFD personnel found a kitten hiding beneath the engine—apparently having ridden the entire trip from Nashville to Hopkinsville under the vehicle.
Animal control officers evaluated the kitten at the station and found it unharmed. The HFD confirmed the kitten belonged to the driver and was returned after a checkup.
“When we say we’re a ‘full-spectrum’ department, we mean it,” HFD stated. “No stone unturned. No life too small.”
