SALINAS, Calif. — A California couple’s beloved cat, Rayne Beau, has been safely reunited with his family more than two months after vanishing during a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park—following an astonishing 900-mile journey back toward home.
A Disappearance in the Wilderness
Benny and Susanne Anguiano of Salinas, California, often bring their cats along on camping trips, so including Rayne Beau on their June visit to Yellowstone seemed routine. But one night, the frightened feline bolted into the wilderness, leaving the couple distraught.
Despite an exhaustive search during the remainder of their trip, the Anguianos were unable to locate Rayne Beau. Heartbroken, they returned home without him—until an unexpected sign gave Susanne hope.
“As we were leaving the park, double rainbows appeared out of nowhere,” Susanne recalled. “It felt like a message—rainbows are Rayne Beau’s namesake, after all.”
An Incredible Journey Home
Two months later, the Anguianos received a call that defied all odds: Rayne Beau had been found at a shelter in Roseville, California—nearly 900 miles from Yellowstone. According to Benny, the resilient cat had even survived a coyote encounter along the way.
The reunion was made possible by one critical factor—Rayne Beau’s microchip.
The Lifesaving Power of Microchipping
“Microchip your pets—and always register the information online,” Susanne urged. “Without it, we might never have gotten him back.”
Studies show that microchipped cats are 20 times more likely to be returned to their owners if lost. The quick, noninvasive procedure provides a permanent form of identification, ensuring pets can be traced even across state lines.
Pro Tip: If your pet is already microchipped, remember to update the contact details if you move or change phone numbers.
For the Anguianos, Rayne Beau’s safe return was nothing short of a miracle—proof that even the wildest journeys can have happy endings.
