Washington, D.C. – While many pets find loving homes, countless others, particularly feral and community cats, spend their lives without one. In recognition of National Feral Cat Day (October 16), we’re spotlighting a rescued feline family now seeking adoption.
Meet Flockie and Her Kittens
Flockie, an 18-month-old cat, and her two 7-week-old kittens, Scuttle and Pogo, were recently saved from a feral cat colony in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The trio was discovered at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, where caregivers support a managed colony through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)—a method endorsed by Alley Cat Allies as the most effective way to stabilize feral cat populations.
Thanks to the efforts of local volunteers, Flockie and her kittens were socialized and removed from the colony for adoption. The young mother, now spayed and vaccinated, is thriving in a foster home in the Washington, D.C. area. Her kittens will soon be neutered and fully vetted before joining their forever homes.
