A video of a black cat giving her sedated sibling a light swat has gone viral, leaving TikTok users both amused and sympathetic toward the groggy feline.
Posted by Michigan-based user @marissanicoleeeee, the video features two cats—Peach, a black cat, and her Siamese sibling—shortly after the latter returned from the vet. Still drowsy from sedation, the Siamese cat attempts to approach Peach, only to be met with a swift but gentle paw to the face. The action causes the unsteady cat to topple over, earning over 527,500 views and 122,000 likes.
“She took full advantage of him,” the caption reads, with the Siamese cat affectionately described as “my poor sensitive boy.” In the comments, the owner shared that the Siamese had spent three years living on the streets before being rescued. “He’s seriously the sweetest cat I’ve ever had,” she added.
Though the swat looked harsh to some, veterinary experts say such reactions are not unusual. Dr. Deepak Shukla, founder of Vets Let’s Travel, explained that sedation often leaves cats feeling groggy and disoriented.
“Cats may wobble, sleep more, or avoid food temporarily. It’s important to keep them warm, minimize noise, and avoid sudden movements. If they’re still lethargic or not eating after 24 hours, contact a vet,” Shukla told Newsweek.
The specific reason for the sedation was not disclosed, but most cases involve surgery. VCA Animal Hospital advises post-surgery cat owners to keep pets warm and indoors, limit their movement, and monitor food and water intake. Some drowsiness can last up to 48 hours, though behavior should return to normal within that period.
TikTok users responded with laughter and sympathy to the clip. “Not the hit and run,” one user joked, referencing Peach walking away immediately after the swat. Another commented, “The fact the black kitty BARELY tapped him is sending me,” to which the owner replied, “He really is just a sensitive lil man.”
One viewer noted the confusion on the sedated cat’s face, while another offered a possible explanation: “Poor baby smells different. Black kitty isn’t sure why sibling smells or acts weird.”
Despite the playful paw, it’s clear that both cats share a home full of care—and a touch of sibling rivalry.
