A Pennsylvania cat has become a viral sensation after her unique way of asking for food captured the hearts of millions on TikTok.
In a video shared in March by the user @jamesbaxter666, the cat—named Ziggy—is seen tilting her head and mimicking eating motions, or “air chomping,” while her owner eats a breakfast sandwich. The humorous scene quickly spread across social media.
“She’s so subtle about wanting my breakfast sandwich,” the owner wrote in the video overlay. The caption added: “Air chomps. Very subtle. Very demure.”
The clip, which has now gained over 2.9 million views and 785,000 likes, shows Ziggy silently pleading with charm, rather than aggression, for a taste. After viewers flooded the comments asking for an update, a second video was posted showing Ziggy finally getting a small bite of the egg-and-sausage sandwich. However, her reaction suggested she wasn’t as impressed with the taste as she was with the smell.
While the videos are entertaining, experts remind pet owners to be cautious about feeding human food to cats. According to veterinary site Vets Now, foods like chocolate, caffeine, raw meat, onions, and dairy can be toxic to felines. Even small amounts can cause serious health issues.
Safe alternatives include cooked, unseasoned meats and vegetables such as chicken, turkey, pumpkin, and green beans, according to Sploot Vets. Pet owners should always consult a veterinarian before sharing food with their animals.
Ziggy’s fans, though, were more focused on her charm than her diet.“This is how I would eat a breakfast sandwich… if I had a breakfast sandwich,” joked one user, Kt. Another commenter, Bianca, wrote: “She was literally picturing what it would taste like. Give that baby a little bit—she’s just a baby!”
