For months, an orange-and-white tabby cat braved the elements, using a discarded mattress as his only shelter. But thanks to the efforts of compassionate neighbors and a local rescue, the friendly stray—now named Applejacks—has traded cold nights for a loving forever home.
From Stray to Safe
The cat, often seen wandering a neighborhood in search of food, always returned to the worn-out mattress for rest. Concerned residents began feeding him and reached out to The Stray Cat Club, a local rescue organization, to help find his owners or a new family.
Volunteers posted flyers, shared his story on social media, and even fitted him with a paper collar in hopes of locating an owner—but no one came forward.
“Despite exploring every avenue, no one claimed him,” The Stray Cat Club told Love Meow. When rescuers picked him up, they noticed frost on his fur—a stark reminder of the harsh nights he had endured.
A New Life of Comfort
In foster care, Applejacks slowly adjusted to indoor life. At first shy, he soon began seeking affection, meowing for attention and pawing gently at his caregivers. His playful side emerged as he discovered toys, chasing them with kitten-like energy.
“He’s incredibly friendly, always following us around,” his foster carers shared. “We can’t understand how no one wanted him before.”
A Dream Come True
After weeks in foster care, Applejacks met his perfect match. During a meet-and-greet, he charmed a family with his sweet nature and signature paw stretches.
“He goes to his happily ever after this Sunday,” the rescue announced.
Now, instead of a cold mattress, Applejacks sleeps soundly in a warm home—his days of loneliness finally behind him.
