Move over, guard dogs—cats are proving they can hold their own against even the fiercest intruders.
A fearless feline in Eagle River, Alaska, made headlines this week after confronting a black bear from behind the safety of a glass door. The encounter, captured on video by resident Darlis Elliott, shows Nani, a 2-year-old Savannah cat, standing her ground as the curious bear explores the porch.
Despite being described by Elliott as a typical “fraidy cat,” Nani surprised her owners by suddenly lunging at the bear—startling the animal so much that it tumbled off the porch.
“We were all really surprised that she lunged at him,” Elliott told KTUU. “But we were more surprised that it scared him enough to fall off.”
The viral clip adds to a growing list of fearless feline feats, coming just days after another cat made waves for chasing off a mountain lion.
