Lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart has welcomed a new furry companion into her home. The 83-year-old entrepreneur introduced Magnolia, a four-year-old silver-shaded Persian cat, in an Instagram post on Friday.
“Meet Magnolia, the newest member of my family,” Stewart wrote. She adopted the feline through Rock N’ Rescue, a Bedford Hills, New York-based nonprofit, and encouraged followers to consider pet adoption.
A devoted animal lover, Stewart detailed the adoption process on her blog, recalling her visit to the rescue organization located near her Katonah farm, Cantitoe Corners. “I’d heard so much about her and was eager to meet her,” she shared. “That same afternoon, I brought her home.”
Magnolia now joins Stewart’s extensive pet family, which includes Chow Chows, French bulldogs, Bengal cats, peacocks, horses, and more. Describing her new companion, Stewart noted Magnolia’s “golden-copper eyes, friendly disposition, and stunning silver-shaded coat.”
The adoption follows the passing of Stewart’s tri-color Persian cat, Empress Tang, in April 2024. The beloved feline, adopted in 2009, had modeled for Martha Stewart Living and PrettyLitter before her death at nearly 15. Stewart mourned her deeply, writing at the time, “We loved her so much.”
Tragedy also struck in 2022 when another Persian, Princess Peony, was accidentally killed by Stewart’s dogs in what she called a “heartbreaking accident.”
Despite past losses, Stewart remains committed to providing loving homes for animals. She reports that Magnolia is adjusting well to life at Cantitoe Corners, calling her a “wonderful addition” to the household.
“Welcome home, Magnolia,” Stewart wrote. “Pet adoption… it’s a very good thing.”
