Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has welcomed a new feline family member—inspired by her friendship with Taylor Swift.
The 59-year-old actress introduced her cat, aptly named Karma, in an Instagram post on Thursday, playfully referencing Swift’s hit single.
“Karma is a cat @taylorswift Meet Karma. My Cat. #MeAndKarmaVibeLikeThat #AndIKeepMySideOfMyPawClean #KarmaIsACat,” Hargitay captioned the post, which included snapshots of the cat lounging on a bed and grooming its paw.
The name holds special significance: Swift, 33, famously owns three cats, including Olivia Benson—named after Hargitay’s SVU character. The two have been friends for years, with Hargitay appearing in Swift’s star-studded “Bad Blood” music video in 2015.
A Purr-fect Friendship
Fans quickly noted the sweet connection, with one commenting that Hargitay is “the biggest Taylor stan.” Others pointed out the symmetry—Swift named her cat after Hargitay’s iconic role, and now Hargitay has returned the favor with a nod to Swift’s music.
Hargitay’s co-stars also joined in on the excitement. SVU actor Ryan Buggle joked, “Please bring this baby to work,” while Ali Wentworth affectionately called the cat her “furry niece.”
From “Bad Blood” to the Eras Tour
The actress and singer have frequently supported each other’s work. After Swift’s “Bad Blood” won Video of the Year, Hargitay celebrated with a heartfelt Instagram tribute, calling Swift “a megawatt talent” with “radiance to spare.”
More recently, Hargitay attended Swift’s Eras Tour in Los Angeles, calling it “the most magical night.”She also brought her daughter, Amaya Josephine, to the premiere of The Eras Tour concert film.
Swift’s Beloved Cats
Swift’s cats—Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button—have their own fan base. In 2015, Swift even shared a video of Hargitay meeting Olivia Benson, captioning it, “Going well.”
With her new furry addition, Hargitay’s love for Swift—and cats—continues to shine.
