For days, Allison, a volunteer with cat rescue group Whiskers-A-GoGo, spotted a skittish tabby kitten darting around her neighborhood—only for it to disappear each time she approached. But when the tiny feline’s cries led her to a hiding spot under the stairs, a simple act of kindness changed both their lives.
A Cry for Help
The stray kitten, later named Eeva, had been evading capture for nights until the sound of a food can cracking open finally lured her out. “She immediately let me pet her,” Allison told Love Meow. “After eating, I sat with her under the stairs, and she started rubbing against me.”
The kitten’s affectionate behavior suggested she was once someone’s pet. Without hesitation, Allison scooped her up and brought her inside, where Eeva nestled into safety—never wanting to be alone again.
From Street Life to Sweet Life
Eeva’s transformation was swift. “She let me trim her nails on day one and was calm at the vet,” Allison said. The adventurous tabby explored her foster home with confidence, scaling windowsills and napping in drawers between play sessions.
Her quirky personality shone: she greeted her reflection, “chirped like a little owl,” and demanded cheese-sharing rights. “Wiggle your feet under a blanket, and she’ll happily pounce,” Allison added.
A Perfect Match
Allison’s team at Whiskers-A-GoGo knew Eeva—now renamed Bug—deserved a devoted home. Soon, Emma, smitten by the tabby’s charm, submitted the perfect adoption application.
“[Bug] loves to climb, snuggle into weird places, and is the perfect friend for me,” Emma told Love Meow. Today, the once-frightened stray reigns over her forever home, cherished and thriving.
