Philadelphia, PA — A pregnant stray cat found shelter just in time to deliver her kittens—and soon expanded her family by adopting an orphaned tabby in need.
The orange tabby, named Georgia Peach, was discovered seeking refuge in an electrical enclosure by volunteers from The Stray Cat Club, a local rescue organization. With no microchip and visibly close to labor, she was rushed to a foster home.
“Thankfully, she’s now safe, warm, and receiving all the care she needs,” the rescue group shared.
A Safe Haven for New Life
Within 24 hours of her rescue, Georgia gave birth to a litter of healthy orange tabbies in the comfort of her foster home. “We couldn’t imagine her having to deliver outside in the cold,” a foster caregiver said. The kittens thrived under Georgia’s care, their eyes opening at 10 days old as they grew more curious about their surroundings.
An Unexpected Addition
Days later, the rescue was alerted about a 2-week-old gray tabby abandoned in a garden. “Her mother was just a kitten herself and rejected her,” the team explained. The frail newborn needed round-the-clock care—and a mother’s love.
Volunteers introduced the orphan to Georgia, who immediately accepted the tiny stranger. The tabby nestled into the litter, nursing alongside her new siblings as if she had always belonged.
A Growing Family
Now, the kittens—five orange and one gray—spend their days cuddled together, with Georgia dutifully grooming and feeding them. In two weeks, they’ll begin exploring, preparing for their next milestone: adoption.
“Their bond is incredible,” said a foster volunteer. “Georgia didn’t hesitate to open her heart.”
Thanks to community support, the feline family continues to flourish. Updates on their progress can be found on The Stray Cat Club’s social media pages.
