When Jaime visited Best Friends Felines to meet an adoptable tabby kitten named Bronx, he had no idea he’d leave with twice the love—and half the regrets.
Bronx, a playful and affectionate kitten from a litter of five, had been waiting for her forever home after her siblings were adopted. Described by the rescue as “confident and irresistibly snuggly,” she won hearts with her habit of climbing onto shoulders for cuddles and leading the charge during playtime.
But as Jaime bonded with Bronx during his meet-and-greet, another cat—Brooklyn, a striking diluted torbie—caught his attention. Initially shy when she first arrived at the rescue, Brooklyn had blossomed into a social, chatty companion who “crashes Zoom meetings” and curls up under desks for company.
“When Brooklyn jumped into my arms, I knew it was fate,” Jaime said. That night, he applied to adopt both cats—despite their different ages and backgrounds.
A Perfect Pair
Though not biologically related, Brooklyn and Bronx quickly became inseparable. Brooklyn, the nurturing older sister, doted on Bronx, showering her with affection. Now, the two spend their days sunbathing by windows, exploring their home, and lounging in their favorite hammocks.
“Four months later, they’re very much part of our family,” Jaime shared. Brooklyn, the life of the party, greets guests with purrs and an adorable “meerkat stance,” while Bronx remains his playful shadow.
The rescue couldn’t be happier. “Nothing makes our hearts fuller than seeing our former foster cats so loved,” Best Friends Felines shared.
What started as a visit for one kitten turned into a double adoption—and Jaime wouldn’t have it any other way.
