Montreal, QC – When an orange rabbit was discovered alone and struggling to survive outdoors, a local cat rescue stepped in to help—leading to an unexpected bond with a group of foster kittens.
From Abandonment to Safety
Months ago, Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a cat rescue organization, received a call about a small rabbit in distress. The bunny, later named Anatole, had been abandoned and was seen wandering gardens, weak and matted. “He was curled up, barely moving,” the rescue told Love Meow.
A volunteer quickly intervened. “He didn’t resist when picked up—he was too frail to survive outside,” the rescue shared. Anatole was emaciated, his fur tangled with burrs and dirt. After a thorough grooming and proper care, he regained his health—and soon befriended an unusual group: foster cats.
An Unlikely Feline Family
Anatole surprised his caregivers with his affectionate, fearless nature. “He loves being petted and makes purr-like sounds when content,” the rescue said. The rabbit showed no hesitation around cats, even sharing his hay and playpen with them.
One kitten, Chip, became an instant companion. “They share the same orange hue and playful personality,” the rescue noted. Anatole began mimicking feline behavior, climbing cat trees and watching the world from the window alongside his new friends, Claudie and Booboo.
Ready for a Forever Home
Now thriving, Anatole is described as a spirited bunny who “loves parkour, rearranging his toys, and standing on his hind legs for treats.” The cats, initially puzzled by their long-eared roommate, now embrace him as one of their own.
The rescue hopes to find Anatole a permanent home in Montreal where he can continue his adventures—whether with humans, cats, or both. “He’s an endearing little soul who deserves all the love,” they added.
