Nicole Kidman has fallen into an unexpected internet rabbit hole: admiring hairless cats.
The Oscar-winning actress, who stars in the upcoming thriller Holland, revealed her feline fascination in a March 9 interview with PEOPLE, alongside co-stars Matthew Macfadyen and Gael García Bernal.
“I love hairless cats. I just love them,” Kidman, 57, confessed. “I did it last night — I was really going gaga over all the hairless cats. So one might be in my future.”
The Lioness star, who already owns three cats, joked about opening a hypothetical flower shop named “Hairless Cats” — but not before playfully scolding Macfadyen when he referred to the breed as “scrotum cats.”
“Hairless cats take offense to that!” Kidman said with a laugh, swatting her Succession alum co-star. “They’re very, very yummy. Very nice and, I think, very pretty, but that might just be me.”
Macfadyen, 50, admitted his own recent obsession: late spy novelist John le Carré. “It was like an hour just lost on my phone,” he said of diving into online interviews. Bernal, 46, shared that he gets swept up in “stories where the wrong people are solving a mystery” — a theme that mirrors Holland’s plot.
Kidman quipped, “See, I’m the superficial one of the bunch!”
A Thriller with “Electric” Chemistry
In Holland, Kidman plays a Michigan schoolteacher who grows suspicious of her husband (Macfadyen), unraveling a dark mystery. Director Mimi Cave (Fresh, 2022) praised the trio’s on-set dynamic as “electric,” even during the film’s heaviest moments.
“The darker the subject matter is, sometimes the more fun on set it is,” Macfadyen noted. “Actors sort of play against how grim the material is.”
Kidman agreed, describing the film’s tone as a deceptive “package with a big bow” that surprises viewers. “It’s got that really dark humor,” she said.
Holland premieres soon on Prime Video.
